Creecy, Sr. of Atlanta, Georgia and the grandson of Reverend and Mrs. W. W. Creecy of New Orleans, Louisiana. This family’s legacy of leadership now exceeds 100 years of continuous commitment to Christian ministry. Dr. Creecy was born in Mobile, Alabama and reared in the City of Atlanta.
His earliest educational experiences were nurtured by the Atlanta Public School System where his mother, Mrs. Marguerite Portis Creecy, was employed as an educator.
His training for ministry began at Morehouse College and furthered at the graduate level in the Morehouse School of Religion of the Interdenominational Theological Seminary. In addition, he holds a Doctor of Divinity from Abotra Bible Institute and Seminary.
Dr. Creecy has pastored with his father, Reverend Dr. Howard W. Creecy, Sr., at The Olivet Church in Fayetteville, Georgia since March 2002. He previously served as senior pastor of Saint Peter Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia for 26 years (October 1976 – March 2002). Under his leadership, the church experienced tremendous growth, including a staff of ministers, administrators, musicians and a pastoral clinical psychologist. Central to the growth and development of Saint Peter Church was his comprehensive and balanced vision of 21st century ministry. He now brings to The Olivet Church his 21st ministry innovations, while still standing upon traditional Christian values. Olivet’s Membership, Ministries, and Monies have all grown exponentially under his leadership as senior Pastor/Teacher.
Dr. Creecy is widely sought as a teacher, preacher, evangelist and lecturer in the area of spiritual warfare. The demand has been so great in the Body of Christ for knowledge in this area, that it has consistently consumed much of Pastor’s travel schedule. As a result of his effective teaching gift, he has also been a guest preacher/teacher of various national, state and regional conventions, congresses, and conferences across the country. Additionally, his gift has opened the door for him to preach and teach internationally.
More African-American Christians have been taught the concepts of spiritual warfare by him than any other person in the country. He is truly a national gift to the Body of Christ with a profound and prophetic word for these chaotic times. Newsweek Magazine quotes him in its cover story presentation of “Evil in Contemporary America.” Arts and Entertainment Television utilized him as a resource in the development of their documentary on demons.
Dr. Creecy is involved in numerous civic, social and political activities. He was former chairman of the Atlanta Task Force of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference; former chairman of the Board of Directors, Project Re-direction, Atlanta University Criminal Justice Institute; and Founding National Board member of the Organization of New Equality (ONE), Boston, Massachusetts.
